Overview

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Additional Financing (AF) expands the scope of the Food System Resilience Program in Sierra Leone (FSRP-SL) by mainly scaling up interventions under Component 2.
The AF is implemented across seven agricultural districts—Bo, Moyamba, Port Loko, Kambia, Tonkolili, Kailahun, and Falaba—and supports the program’s priority value chains of rice, cassava, and livestock. Valued at US$18 million, the three-year financing was approved on 30 October 2025 and is expected to close on 30 September 2028. The AF retains the existing implementation arrangements of FSRP-SL while integrating the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) as the principal implementing agency. The Ministry provides strategic leadership, establish and oversee the Project Implementation Unit, and ensure the provision of technical guidance, environmental oversight, and implementation supervision.
