Food and Nutrition Security Early Warning

The Food and Nutrition Security Early Warning System (FNS-EWS) is meant to provide a periodic analysis of the status of food security in Sierra Leone. It monitors the situation on a quarterly basis and provides knowledge of risks, shocks, threats of vulnerability, and malnutrition in the country. The system establishes a timely alert and recommend mitigation and adoption mechanisms for necessary decisions and actions before a food crisis emergency. Through quarterly assessment, the system informs stakeholders on current food and nutrition trigger indicators focusing on the following: a) Agro-climatology, b) Crop Production, c) Livestock Production, and d) Food and Nutrition Security Outlook.
